StartAP Festival for young entrepreneurs will be held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada on February 18 and 19. It is expected that hundreds of young andaspiring entrepreneurs will take part in the two-day Start AP Festival. This is the third edition of Start AP Fest and second one in the Amaravati Region.

Previously the festial was held in Vijayawada in 2014 and later in Vizag in 2016.

Start AP Provides a platform where startups pitch their ideas in the fest. Around 250 startups are applying to present at Start AP Amaravati 2017 from across AP and South India where 80 plus startups will be showcasing their products and top 20 will be invited to pitch on the stage to investors.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday inaugurated Nagarjuna Cancer Centre at Kanuru on the outskirts of Vijayawada to mark the World Cancer Day. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said cancer can be cured with the advanced equipment and medicines if it is detected at an early stage. He recalled that there was only one cancer hospital in South India located at Adayar in Chennai. Now there are many cancer hospitals have emerged in all State capitals and cities in South India.

The Chief Minister said specialist doctors hailing from Andhra Pradesh were performing meritoriously in many developed countries with their efficiency and skills and coming back to India to setup corporate hospitals, which is a good sign, he added. Naidu congratulated Nagarjuna Hospital Chairman Dr K. Jagan Mohan Rao and his wife Dr Sri Lakshmi after inauguration of the cancer centre at Kanuru.

He said true beam, the most advanced radiotherapy system installed at the Nagarjuna hospital will be very useful to the patients. He further said the State-of-the-art true beam machine would take 2-3 three minutes for radiotherapy which used to take about 45 minutes earlier. He said there will be no side effects with modern technology like true beam, he added. The Chief Minister recalled that his mother-in-law Basavatarakam was a cancer patient and died due to the disease. He pointed out that the NTR Trust has been running the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad for many years.

The Guntur Municipal Corporation, following the Happy Sundays concept of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, launched Happy Sunday programme at Guntur on Sunday. Music, songs, yoga, laughing and other Cultural programmes enthralled the public organised in the NTR Stadium.

Inaugurating the programme, GMC Commissioner S. Nagalakshmi Said that Cultural activities and sports would rejuvenate the public. So, GMC started the Happy Sundays on the instructions Of CM N. Chandrababu Naidu. Ms Nagalakshmi played traditional Kolatam with
the Women in the NTR Stadium On the occasion of inaugural programme.

The Students of RVR College and Vignan Engineering College displayed western and traditional dance numbers. The students said that Happy Sundays are giving them good chance to rejuvenating them stress. They said that they have decided to perform dances, skits, plays and other entertainment programmes regularly in the Happy Sundays programme.

GMC officials conducted health camp and public utilised the facility to check their health, including sugar and blood pressure. Games like bongaralu (top), Goleelu and Kolatam attracted the public.

The traditional Khaki uniform of the AP Police department will be changing to blue, as per instructions from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who believes in "friendly policing" and who is following the example of foreign countries.

In addition to the establishment of a new capital, Amaravati, he wants to bring about changes in the traditional khaki dress code of AP police. The first online modern model police stations of AP at Guntur and Nagaraimpalem, are inaugurated on Monday, February 6th.

The Centre has made a budget provision of Rs.101 crore for Amaravati Metro. Of this Rs.1 crore is considered as subordinated debt in the form of Central taxes. The Metro projects Will be in PPP mode, as per the budget. However, it will not have any impact on Amaravati Metro, since the Central and State governments will have 20 per cent equity each, and the rest will be spent by funding agencies.

Subordinated debt is a loan or security that ranks below other loans and securities regarding claims on a company's assets or earnings. Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) MD N.P Rama krishna Reddy said subordinated debt provision facilitates smooth running of further proceedings of the Metro project, as Some more formalities still needs to be done. "Out of the Rs.101 crore, Rs.100 will be the equity part of the Union Government, which may further go up, as per the investments of foreign funding agencies," Rama krishna Reddy said.

But future metro projects in the country would be in PPP mode, the AMRC MD said and added that AMRC does not have Such hindrances.
