Tata Trust came forward to adopt all the villages in Vijayawada Parliamentary constituency. On this initiative, Tata Trust with help of Google is now providing internet facility to 125 villages that fall under Jaggaiahpet and Nandigama assembly constituencies. They have appointed one lady in each of these villages and her responsibility is to go and explain usage of internet in every house. This Initiative is called "Internet Saathi".
The trained candidates were provided two smart phones, two tablets and mobile net service kits each for giving demonstrations in to villages.
The trained Internet Saathis would tour in villages in the Nandigama and Jaggaiahpet Assembly constituencies in the first phase and in the Mylavaram and Tiruvur segments in the next phase.
