The Government of Andhra Pradesh is organizing the Lepakshi Festival on February 27 and 28 on a grand scale. The festival will be an annual event and aims to promote and celebrate the Telugu language, literature, culture, traditional and folk arts and create awareness among the young generation. Hindupur MLA and film actor Sri Nandamuri Balakrishna met Sri NCBN today and extended the invitation to participate at the event.

The Lepakshi festival would showcase the unique culture, traditions and cuisine of Rayalaseema including the famous handlooms of Dharmavaram and Mudireddypalli. The tourist circuit promoting important places in Anantapur would help generate income for the drought-stricken district.

In the CRDA review meeting held today in Vijayawada, Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu conducted video conference with the three architects who have been shortlisted for Amaravati construction.

The three architects are Richard Roger from London, Maki from Tokyo, B.A.Joshi from India, who will compete under the Swiss Challenge method for Secretariat, Assembly and High-Court Construction. Chief Minister in his video conference insisted them to submit their designs. CM requested to maintain the designs, in the way that Telugu Culture will be showcased.

Government is planning to construct these three structures as iconic structures; Secretariat, Assembly and High-Court

Brief Profiles of the Architects who are competing:

Richard Roger has designed the Lloyd's Building and Peternoster Square in London as also the Millennium Dome. Rem Koolhas had conceptualised the Seattle Central library, Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Seoul National University Museum of Art and the iconic Dutch Embassy building in Berlin.

Maki is popular as Japan’s most distinguished living architects, practising a unique style of modernism that reflects his Japanese origin. His famous works include tower 4 (150 Greenwich Street) of the World Trade Centre (WTC) in Manhattan and Aga Khan Museum at Toronto.

Mr. Doshi, a Padma Shri award winner, will contribute his professional acumen to create the new set-up. Considered an important figure of South Asian architecture

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu flagged off the multi-purpose survey vehicles today. They are manufactured in Australia.

The vehicle will be used for a comprehensive survey of the state's road network and collect high quality data for the functional and structural condition evaluation of about 41,000 Km of R&B roads in Andhra Pradesh

The state government has taken initiative to create a database covering the majority of roads in the state and probably , it is for the first time such a project has been taken up in the country.

It will be executed by the Andhra Pradesh Road Development Corporation with the World Bank assistance. The survey work has recently been awarded to the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB), on an international competitive bidding basis. ARRB, based in Melbourne, Australia is a pioneer in this field and the technology is a result of 80 years of continuous research and development.

The total cost of the project is Rs.6 crore and is expected to be completed by August 2016

Tummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram near Police Control Room at Vijayawada is going to witness a makeover on the lines of Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad. 50 Crore budget is assigned long back, but the works are not started. But now decision was taken to do major changes and bring the new look by Krishna Pushkarams.

As a part of the renovation process, the hall will be extended further upto 1000 square feet in front and get more accommodation. The old seats will be replaced by cushion seats. Also the lighting will be more attractive. The walls will also have a trendy designs on them. The sealing of the auditorium is also going to be changed. Latest Sound system also will be placed in the hall. The Air Conditions which are now are not functioning, and they are plans to replace that also. Greenery will be increased across the premises.

volley ball tournament guntur 24022016

After 3 decades, Volleyball tournaments are going to held in Guntur. Last time when a major national tourney was held in 1989 at BR Stadium. Marella Kailash Reddy memorial All India Invitation Volleyball Tournament will commence at NTR Municipal Stadium at Guntur. The tournament will be held from February 24th to February 28th. Flood lights also are arranged to organize the matches even at the night time. Around 8000 seating gallery is arranged for visitors.

six teams in men and four teams in women’s category were roped in for the tourney.

AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao will inaugurate the tourney at 3.00 PM on February 24th. Several Ministers and MLAs are expected to take part.
