Today Chief Minister has opened Isuzu Motors Manufacturing Plant in Sri City, Nellore. Here are the things to know about it
- CBN today inaugurated Isuzu Motors’ manufacturing plant in Sri City, Nellore and drove the first India made D-Max pickup model out of the assembly line in the presence of Ambassador of Japan to India Kenji Hiramatsu and Isuzu Motors President Masanori Katayama
- D-Max V-Cross is India's first adventure utility vehicle
- CBN was able to attract the Japanese motor giant with a slew of mega investment incentives which included exemption of road tax to the company vehicles
- The new plant will cater to requirements of the growing Indian market, and will serve as a key manufacturing hub for Isuzu's global operations
- Isuzu has committed an investment of Rs 3,000 crore for the project
- The initial production capacity of the plant is 50,000 units per annum which will be scaled up to 1,20,000 units
- More than 2000 jobs will be created through this initiative
- The new generation of Isuzu D-Max pick-ups will be manufactured at the plant, with 70 per cent localisation at the start of production, which will be stepped up
- Isuzu will also consider export of vehicles manufactured at this facility at a suitable time in future
- Isuze spent 4 years studying the Indian market so it could build vehicles that cater to the needs of the burgeoning economy
- The bookings for the Isuzu branded vehicles will soon start followed by deliveries across India
- Eight component suppliers of Isuzu Motors will set up their operations at Sri City
- This state-of-the-art manufacturing plant will follow Isuzu global manufacturing standards and Isuzu Manufacturing Management (IMM) practices
- Sri City has attracted 120 companies of which 80 are operational now
- With its existing operations in the US, Japan and Thailand, this plant in India is expected to provide a manufacturing leg-up to Isuzu globally
