Three New IIITs are started in Andhra Pradesh, Ongonle, Srikakulam and Anantapur, under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT). International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Ongole and IIIT-Srikakulam will start functioning from the present academic year, while Ananatupur IIIT will start next year. Though IIIT-Ongole and IIIT Srikakulam will start conducting admissions from the present academic year, their classes will be held at Nuzvid and Idupulapaya campuses respectively till buildings and other infrastructure facilities are developed on locations.
The last date for submitting the applications would be July 29 and the merit list would be notified on July 31 and classes would commence from August 16. Out of the total 2,000 seats, 1,230 have been allocated to Andhra region, 770 to Rayalaseema and 200 seats were open for admission under Non-Resident India (NRI) category.
Counselling for special category students like SCs STs, differently-abled etc will be held on August 8 and 9 and for general category on August 10-11.
The new institutions at Ongole and Srikakulam will have course in six branches like chemical, civil, computer, electronics and communications, materials and metallurgy and mechanical engineering.
