As Central Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari told, center would be helping with Twenty Thousand crore to build Amaravati Outer Ring Road, APCRDA has now concentrated on land acquisition. Also CRDA is working on DPR and feasibility report.

Below are the highlights of Amaravati Outer Ring Road:

  • The total distance of Outer Ring Road is around 210 KM, with a width of 150 mts.
  • The ring road will pass through 26 mandalas and 89 villages of Krishna and Guntur Districts
  • The cost would be Rs.10 crore for each KM.
  • Approx. 35 acres land is required for each Kilo-Meter
  • 7000 acres of land is required for main road, dividers and service road

The stats of 2015 are saying that, Vijayawada citizens are following traffic rules. Thought the total number of traffic violations are less compared to last year, the signal jumping’s raise by 21 percent.

Below are some important stats:

  • 10,092 are booked for over-speed in 2015, compared to 42,985 in 2014
  • 35,475 are booked for disobeying traffic signals in 2015, compared to 27,885 in 2014
  • 48,915 are booked for not having driving license in 2015, compared to 76,820 in 2014
  • 6,580 are booked for triple riding in 2015, compared to 8,827 in 2014
  • 3,678 are booked for drunk and drive in 2015, compared to 6,117 in 2014
  • 10,523 are booked for un-insured vehicles
  • 5,692 for not having helmets
  • 2,221 for cell phone driving
  • 343 motorists were killed in Vijayawada city and 1,563 persons were injured

A total of 2,39,764 motorists were booked for various violations in Vijayawada Police Commissionerate limits, which is 86,542 less compared to last year.

A total of 5.1 crore was collected as fines from all violators. Of this the major contribution of Rs.1,14,34,000 is from 48,915 people who do not have license.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has taken up plans for a greener city. It has taken steps for greenery on single central divider on MG Road. Municipal Commissioner G Veerapandian said steps have been taken for development of greenery along the national highways passing through the city.

He also said, VMC has the plans to modernize all the 127 parks in the city. Commissioner added that, vacant plots belonging to VMC will also be converted in parks shortly.

Even people should feel responsible about keeping surroundings clean and stop throwing garbage into drains and canals and at public places like parks. Only then, the city would be clean and green

27th Vijayawada Book Festival Society will be organised at PWD Grounds from January 1st to 11th. The book festival will be named after Muvvala Perumallu and Sahitya Vedika will be named after Chalasani Prasad. As many of 230 stalls would be kept, compared to 390 last year. The stalls been reduced due to security reasons, as the CM office is very near to the grounds.

Besides, many educational institutions, law publications, media organisations, Bala Sahitya Publications and other organisations were expected to participate in the book festival

Famednt Excellence Award for Dentistry was won by Vijayawada dentist, A.Sridhar Reddy. This is the third consecutive year, he is taking this award. The event was held in Mumbai, which was presented by International College principal Prof. Philip Dowell.

Dr.A.Sridhar Reddy was a senior most dentist in Vijayawada, who is practicing since the past 20 years. He is also acting as the chairman of Indian Red Cross Society.
